Protoss shield regeneration

The Protoss Plasma Shields have always been an indication of just how advanced this race is, so it's not a big surprise to hear that (like the Zerg creep) they too will be getting a slight tweak for the sequel.
We first heard of the new shield mechanism as part of Q&A Batch 19, and we also reported that the Shield Battery was dropped from the multiplayer back in January of this year. Karune has recently tried to expand on how this works:

I'm interested in knowing what you think of this and whether the absence of the Shield Battery will affect your gamplay style.

I don't think that the absence of the Shield Battery is going to be noticeable ... As to the regeneration rate - it's going to be a plus for the Protoss ... On the other hand the Creep is plus for the Zerg, so I think it is fair that the Terran gets some kind of a repair boost or something ...

They changed the creep for Zerg though, at least not damaging buildings any more. Perhaps Terran units will get more armor or as you say, faster repairs..

Actually i liked the repair ability that the Nomad/Vulcan had, to be able do instant repairs for Terran mechanical units in return for the Nomad energy a.k.a ( nano repair )... it could have had some nice uses .. last i heard the new Nighthawk ( previously the nomad ) doesn't have it anymore .. i hope they put it back XD

I wonder if one possibility to distinguish the Terrans could be to implement a C&C style of "auto repair" where mechanical units that are near their production structures are slowly repaired over time.

@Leord: the creep might not heal, but they have a very large speed advantage on creep. Last time I heard it was around 30% or something?
Absence of the shield battery will not have much effect on my MP game since I didn't use it all that much (not effective enough). But it will have a limited impact on my SP game. Its impossible to say if it will return in SP or not ofc.

Yeah, some sort of auto-repair could be interesting! I think it should be in addition to regular repairs then. Perhaps having all buildings within 5-6 tiles of a Nighthawk or 2-3 tiles of a SCV being slowly repaired over time out of combat (without a mineral cost), and in addition to that, the SVC can also repair normally in or out of combat.
The opponent can then micro off the repair dudes first if he wants to.
