Frank Pearce and Bob Colayco Interviewed
Perhaps some of the last tidbits from GC'08 is GameInformer with a Frank Pearce and Bob Colayco interview about StarCraft II. The interview is relatively interesting, compared to many made by mainstream gaming media, and has two specifically interesting questions answered for the upcoming mapmakers of StarCraft II.

| GI: WarCraft III’s modding community is gigantic—are you going to make tools available so that it’s easy to modify StarCraft II? Pearce: Well, modding might be an overexaggeration of what the tools will be able to provide, but we’re definitely shipping the game with a full-featured map editor. We had released an art-tool set for WarCraft III’s community also. We don’t have any specific plans to release that yet, but I think we’ll have more features similar to that integrated into the map editor. We definitely wanted to enhance the feature set further in the map editor we provide to the community so that custom maps like Defense of the Ancients and other user-created content have the opportunity to become popular. That’s what’s really cool about the map editor—that the community thinks of ways to use it that we didn’t even contemplate. GI: People are picking up on those and making fully fledged games based just on that style. Are you looking at those types of games and bringing them over to the StarCraft side? Pearce: I don’t know. We’re still talking about whether or not we want to have explicit support for certain template types that are unique like that when we launch StarCraft II. It might be a situation where we wait to add unique templates after we see what’s popular within the community after the game launches. So definitely some very basic templates when we launch—as far as unique templates go, it’s something we’ll have to work out over time as the community evolves. |

For non-English people, they also touch greatly on the topic of localization, which also is of some interest.
Editor's Note: I changed the mentions of "Pierce" to "Pearce". It seems a LOT of networks are having problem with poor Frankie's surname.

Oh god, not localization... when SC2 comes out, I'm definitely going for the English version. You can't imagine how the Czech translations of SC and Wc3 sucked.
